CooChat Privacy Policy: What We Store and What We Never Do
An anonymous video chat should collect very little. Here is exactly what CooChat holds, what it keeps in your browser, who else sees it, how long it lasts, and how to make it go away.
Real people from Latin America, Asia and beyond, starting new conversations every day.

CooChat is built around an anonymous video chat, so the honest starting point for a video chat privacy policy is that there is not much to collect. There is no profile to fill in, no photo to upload and no friends list. This page describes what does exist.
1. Who this policy covers and what it applies to
It applies to everything on coochat.net: the marketing pages, the matching system, one-to-one calls, messaging, and coin purchases. It sits alongside the terms of service, which describe what you may and may not do; this page is only about data.
2. What CooChat collects during a random video chat
Things you actively give us. On the ordinary path, nothing. Because there is no sign up, no name, email or date of birth is requested before a first match. You hand over details only if you email support or buy coins, and card details go straight to the payment processor — we never see or store a full card number.
Things collected automatically. Standard technical data that any web service receives: IP address, approximate region derived from it, browser and device type, and timestamps of requests. This is what makes it possible to route a call, apply rate limits and act on abuse reports.
Things stored in your own browser. Two items, both small and both local to your device: a record of your session so that a refresh does not throw you out mid-conversation, and a daily tally of how many free matches you have used. Clearing site data in your browser removes both, and the tally resets by itself each day.
Camera and microphone. Access is requested by your browser, not by us, and the browser will not grant it without your say-so. You can withdraw it at any time in browser settings, and a text-only chat works without ever granting it.
3. What we do with any of it
Connecting you to another person; keeping the service running and roughly free of abuse; investigating reports; processing a purchase when you make one; and understanding in aggregate which pages people use. That is the list. We do not sell personal data, and we do not build advertising profiles out of who you were matched with.
4. Whether anything from a chat becomes public
No. A match is a closed room for two people. It is not broadcast, not listed, and not indexed by search engines. There is no public profile carrying your history, because there is no profile at all. The video and audio in a call are relayed between the two of you rather than archived for browsing; material is retained only where it is needed to investigate a specific report or where the law requires it.
What we cannot control is the other person. Nothing technical prevents someone pointing a second device at their screen, which is why the safety guide asks you to treat anything on camera as potentially recordable and to keep identifying details out of the first few minutes.
5. Cookies and similar technologies
We use the minimum that keeps the service working — session continuity, security, and aggregate analytics — rather than cross-site advertising trackers. The cookie policy lists each item, what it does and how long it lasts. Browser controls to block or clear them all work normally here; blocking everything may mean a match does not survive a refresh.
6. Who else sees your data
A short list of service providers, each contractually limited to what they are hired for: payment processing, hosting and content delivery, and aggregate analytics. Beyond that, we disclose data only when required by valid legal process, or where it is necessary to investigate abuse or protect someone's safety. Data may be processed in countries other than yours; where that happens we rely on the safeguards the applicable law provides.
7. How long anything is kept
Technical logs are held for a limited operational period and then discarded. Purchase records are kept for as long as tax and accounting rules require — that period is set by law, not by us. Material attached to an abuse report is kept while the report is open and for a period afterwards in case the same account reappears. Browser-side items last until you clear them, or in the case of the free-match tally, until the day rolls over.
8. Your rights, and how to actually use them
Depending on where you live you may have the right to access a copy of your data, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to processing, or take it elsewhere. To use any of them, write to support[at]coochat.net from the address involved — type the @ in place of [at]. We will tell you what is held, delete what we can, and explain anything we are legally obliged to keep and for how long. If you are unhappy with the outcome you can complain to your local data protection authority.
9. Children
CooChat is not for anyone under 18 and we do not knowingly collect data from a minor. If you believe a minor is using the service, report it — those reports are treated as urgent, and the account is removed along with the data attached to it.
10. Security, and being straight about its limits
Traffic is encrypted in transit, access to systems is restricted, and abuse controls run continuously. No service can promise perfect security, and one that does is not being straight with you. What we can promise is that if something goes wrong that affects you, we will say so rather than hope you do not notice.
11. Changes, and where to ask questions
When this policy changes the effective date at the top moves. Material changes are worth reading before you carry on using the service. Anything unclear, or anything you want removed, goes to support[at]coochat.net — the contact page says what to include so the reply is useful rather than a request for more information.
Privacy questions we get asked most
Does CooChat record my video chats?
Video and audio in a match are relayed between the two of you, not archived for browsing. Material is only retained where it is needed to investigate a report or where the law requires it. Nothing from a chat is published on the site.
Do I have to give an email address to use CooChat?
No. There is no sign-up form, so the ordinary path involves no email, no name and no profile. You only hand over contact details if you write to support or choose to buy coins.
What does CooChat store in my browser?
A session record so a refresh does not throw you out, and a small daily tally of how many free matches you have used. Clearing site data in your browser removes both, and the free-match tally resets on its own each day.
How do I get my data deleted?
Write to support from the address involved and ask. We will tell you what is held, delete what we are able to delete, and explain anything we are legally required to keep and for how long.
That is the whole of it. Ready to chat?
No account, no profile, nothing published. Just a conversation with someone new.
